Maureen Dwyer is a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP) and a Certified K9 Nose Work® Instructor (CNWI). Maureen believes training should be fun for both dog and owner. She earned her KPA-CTP with her training partner Abby, who was a 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier. Abby proved you can teach an old dog new tricks and the training enriched her life in her senior years. As an avid advocate and participant in K9 Nose Work®, Maureen also loves introducing new students to the activity and training them on the foundational skills for fun and competition.
My name is Corey Steinberg and I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and the owner and founder of Elite Canine. My love (okay…obsession) with animals began when I was a child but my journey towards becoming a dog trainer was only realized after 20+ years as a federal prosecutor left me yearning for days spent in the company of dogs (not lawyers). Since retiring from the United States Attorneys' Office in 2021, I have honed my dog training skills, finding a niche for myself in therapy dog training where I am certified by the AKC as a Canine Good Citizen (CGC)/Community Canine Evaluator. I am also a Certified Pet First Aid/CPR Instructor teaching the latest veterinarian-approved protocols to those who want to learn how to keep dogs safe and healthy. When I'm not training dogs and their humans, my beautiful Australian Labradoodle Wyatt and I are a registered therapy dog team working with the Cohasset Working Dog Foundation and Dog B.O.N.E.S Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts.
I was tired of seeing so many dogs re-homed, abandoned, and even euthanized by mostly well-meaning people thinking there was no other option. I want to help people realize that many behavioral issues are fixable and rehoming isn't the answer!
Helping families find peace with their dogs and have the amazing relationship they both want and deserve. Dogs are members of the family with feelings and emotions and my goal as a trainer is to help families build a mutually respectful human-canine bond. Not all behaviors are easy, and many can be extremely difficult, but if you do it right, dog training should be an enjoyable time with a loving member of the family.
I love being a part of expanding the therapy dog world. My pup Wyatt and I work alongside the amazing therapy dog teams of the Cohasset Working Dog Foundation and Dog B.O.N.E.S. of Massachusetts. The demand for therapy dog visits has exploded in recent years, which isn’t surprising given the numerous benefits, both physical and emotional, that therapy dogs provide. Dogs lift spirits and lessen depression. Dogs encourage communication and connection, which decreases feelings of isolation and alienation while increasing socialization and reducing boredom. Therapy dogs have also been shown to help motivate patients to recover faster and even help children overcome speech and emotional disorders. The increase in demand for therapy dog visits necessitates the need for more qualified therapy dog teams. It is my privilege and joy to train and welcome more of these amazing animals and their human companions into the therapy dog circle.Maureen Dwyer is a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP) and a Certified K9 Nose Work® Instructor (CNWI).
